.::coachella, here i come!::.

15 04 2010

tomorrow’s the day… COACHELLA begins! you know, that crazy 3-day music fest all the way across the country in SoCal that (for me) serves as a precursor to Bonnaroo? oh-the eff-yeah! cannot wait for this fun time… i’ve talked about it a little bit, and i really am excited, but i know i won’t really feel like i’m in it to win it til i have arrived at the Empire Polo Fields tomorrow afternoon.

i finally narrowed down a semi-schedule (using the lovely Coachooser) to decide which bands i’m gonna see at which times. it was tough to totally weed out some peeps i was getting excited about (if you’ve been following my coachella primer on Eff&Music you know i was excited about way too many), but i’m looking forward to full days of awesome music this weekend, and at the end of it, i don’t think i’ll be too upset.

i doubt cell phone service will be anywhere near up to par, with the amount of people that will be there, so i’ll just let you know what i’m gonna be doing and you’ll just have to wait til i get back to find out how everything was. so! my schedule, as i know it right now…

the first band i’ll be trying to see when i get to coachella is The Avett Brothers… followed by Sleigh Bells, Yeasayer, She & Him, Passion Pit (ahhh!!!!!! dance PARTY!), Them Crooked Vultures, Grizzly Bear, LCD Soundsystem, VAMPIRE WEEKEND (has it only been a week since we had that awesome show?!), and, of course, Jay Z closing out the night.

saturday’s gonna be huge. packed & busy. gonna start with Steel Train (who we saw open for Tegan + Sara a few months back), then see Frightened Rabbits (who so many ppl are raving about), then a mishmash of a few bands (i’m gonna have to jump around a bit) including Temper Trap, Band of Skulls, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, & Tokyo Police Club…then we’ll get around to The XX, Dirty Projectors, Hot Chip (ohhhh yeah!!! dance party part 2!), MGMT, Muse, Ztrip, and The Dead Weather.

should be an easier day, but will be awesome all the same. gonna check out The Middle East, and then it will finally be time for me to meet my current favorites LOCAL NATIVES. later on we’ll see Matt & Kim (fun fun!), Julian Casablancas (from The Strokes), Jonsi, Spoon, Phoenix (favorite! frenchies!!!), Thom Yorke’s new project, and then closing out the festival, Gorillaz.

doesn’t that just sound like an unbelievable time? i can’t wait, and i bet i’m gonna be seriously overwhelmed. aside from all the music, we’ll be (gulp) camping. outside. in tents. woah boy. 🙂 can’t wait to see how that turns out!! and can’t wait to tell you all about it… wish me luck!
